NIRA'S HOT LIST – SEPTEMBER 2022

Nira’s Hot List Contributed by Virgin Radio Morning Show Co-Host Nira Arora | @niraarora

Oh hi there ROUTINE!  Where have you been?

Seriously… September?!? It came and it went! Was it just me or did September feel a bit more out of control more than the norm? Something in the air? Mercury in retrograde? Side effects of a first real Summer of ‘normal’? I got Covid in August and my brain is still foggy and can’t catch up.

Humans are creatures of habit, and September marks the beginning of getting back into a routine. As amazing as the relaxation of the summer months provided was, it’s time to get back into a schedule. Research shows that September is now the time of year in which people want to reset and recharge their systems. It can be hard. We were spoiled over the summer and the mid-day sangrias will definitely be missed; however the body is craving some TLC.

Here are some items that may help get you into a routine for yourself, your family, and your community!

Phyto Corrective Essence Mist - SkinCeuticals

Our skin could use a bit of TLC, especially after everything we put it through in the Summer!  The fast food, the drinking all the sunscreens and sun exposure!  The Phyto Corrective Essence Mist delivers a touch less soothing experience that instantly hydrates and reduces redness.

Phyto Corrective Essence Mist is a new practical format, easy to use as part of morning and night routines and throughout the day, delivering a soothing botanical essence mist that strengthens skin’s barrier and immediately reduces visible redness, perfect for those with dehydrated and blemish-induced redness.

It calms, soothes and helps draw and retain water and moisture to skin to support skin’s barrier function for a 69% increase in hydration.  In a 2-week clinical study where the Phyto Corrective Essence Mist was applied once a day, subjects experienced significant improvement in redness, skin texture, dullness, and fine lines by immediately reducing visible redness by 31%.

Muscle Therapy Rub – Maple Organics Wellness

One of the most common ways to feel as though you’re getting back into your routine is exercise.  I’ll be honest- I did fall of the workout train for the Summer and now I’m just starting to work my way there.  I think I may have shocked my muscles- I was sore!  I found out about Muscle Therapy Rub by Maple Organics and it was a game changer.  Safe and effective relief for sore muscles, Maple’s Muscle Therapy is formulated to ease the stiffness and pain of over worked muscles.  Best part- it’s NATURAL!!  At Maple Organics they use Oil of Wintergreen, a natural source of methyl salicylate, which provides the same effective relief naturally and safely.

The power lies in the combination of oils and the powerfully skin absorptive qualities of Kokum Butter. This is not an icy hot product but will increase circulation to remove lapsed blood while giving a numbness in your muscles to help reduce pain. It works when it’s rubbed into the skin.  Moms you need this!  And actually- guys….. I think you may be into this one too after some hard workouts!   Health Canada licensed to reduce pain.

The Atheana Picha T-shirt for Orange Shirt Day - Aritzia

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is September 30th. The message of this day is immense but part of it is about change and learning and education and spreading the knowledge- the TRUTH of the Indigenous People.

We want to see large companies use their platform to increase awareness.

Aritzia partnered with Atheana Picha, an interdisciplinary Salish artist from the Kwantlen First Nation, to create t-shirts for Orange Shirt Day.

100% of the proceeds will be donated to Orange Shirt Society — an organization that fosters reconciliation in response to the intergenerational impacts of residential schools. In addition to The Orange Shirt Society, they’ve partnered with The Circle on Philanthropy to connect with a network of Indigenous organizations helping to create systemic change and increase equity, justice and sovereignty for Indigenous Peoples.  We honour the survivors of residential schools, their families and communities.
