Rethinking your ink? With laser tattoo removal, what was once permanent can be a memory! Project Skin MD® offers medical-grade lasers for tattoo removal, which enables our physicians and technicians to target specific colours with heightened efficacy and safety. Colour by colour, a specific wavelength is employed to target the imbedded ink. Instantly, pigment particles are dispersed. Over the following weeks, the body naturally and safely clears the debris, reducing tattoo ink. After several treatments, tattoos begin to fade and clear; most tattoos will eventually clear completely.

Treatment & Technology
For your comfort, topical and local anesthetics may be applied prior to treatment. For optimal safety and efficacy, laser tattoo removal is best performed with medical-grade laser equipment and under the direction of a qualified physician. Medical-grade laser tattoo removal is not BBL or IPL tattoo removal; medical-grade lasers emit unique wavelengths of energy with proven safety and efficacy for tattoo removal, as each unique wavelength targets a specific colour of tattoo ink. Over several treatments, your tattoo fades, and most tattoos will eventually clear completely.
Laser Tattoo Removal can be used to treat most areas on the face and body. Some areas that are more delicate may not be suitable for treatment, such as permanent make-up on the eyelids.
We will tailor a treatment plan to your unique skin needs. 3 to 8 treatments may be recommended at 6 to 8 week intervals for best results.
Contraindications
We do not offer Laser Tattoo Removal to women who are pregnant or breastfeeding nor to patients who have taken Accutane in the past 6 months, have been exposed to the sun, tanning beds, have used self-tanning or photosensitizing products in the past month.
The treatment itself ranges from 5 minutes to 30 minutes depending on the size of the treatment area. At Project Skin MD we offer topical numbing cream 60 minutes prior to treatment, and inject local anaesthetic to increase your comfort during treatment. If time is an issue for you, we can skip the topical cream and only use local anaesthetic, please let us know at time of booking.
What does the treatment feel like?
The local anaesthetic injection feels similar to a bee sting, and patients by experience a stinging sensation briefly as the anaesthetic begins to take effect. After the area is sufficiently numb, you may notice a slight heat or snapping sensation during treatment. Following your treatment, as the anaesthetic wears off you may feel tenderness and heat in the treated area. Cold compresses can help reduce any discomfort.
Do I need to take any special precautions before treatment?
Direct sun exposure and use of self-tanners are important to avoid 2-4 weeks prior to treatment.
Can I resume my normal activities after treatment?
Yes. However, it is not recommended to exercise the same day as your treatment. Saunas, hot tubs, hot yoga and sun exposure are not recommended in the following 7 days.
Are there any possible side effects?
Laser tattoo removal may cause a darkening or loss of pigmentation in the treated area. This should self-correct with time, however it can be permanent. Blistering, scarring, pain and infection are all possibilities with any laser treatment.
When will I see results?
After approximately 2 weeks the treatment area should have healed, making it possible to see the effect the treatment had on the tattoo ink. Results are permanent, however it may take several treatments to remove the tattoo, and in some cases the ink may not clear entirely.
Continuing to offer you a wide range of state-of-the-art treatments and services while maintaining the philosophy, values and personalized approach that you know and love.
