Cryotherapy is a treatment method that involves exposing the body to extremely cold temperatures for a short period. While spending time outdoors gives many of us a sunkissed feeling, UVA, UVB, and infrared energy from the sun can lead to visible signs of aging, pigmentation, and skin cancers. Cryotherapy is commonly used to treat sun damage and remove moles, helping to identify and get rid of any pre-cancerous spots.
Our clinic provides various options for managing actinic keratoses (AKs), also known as pre-cancerous skin lesions. With Cryotherapy, we apply liquid nitrogen to the AKs, effectively freezing these cells. This process prompts the body to shed the damaged skin, allowing new, healthy cells to surface.
By treating AKs early, patients can significantly reduce the risk of these lesions progressing into skin cancer. Additionally, we consistently advocate for a rigorous daily sun protection routine as a continued preventative measure.
Cryotherapy can be used on most areas of the face and body.
Each Cryotherapy procedure is preceded by a consultation, where we go over your skin concerns and create a personalized treatment plan.
We take photographs to add to your patient file so we can monitor the results of your Cryotherapy treatment.
We’ll review the consent forms and answer any questions you may have about your treatment before we begin your session.
Cryotherapy treatment starts with a cleansing of the affected area, followed by the precise application of liquid nitrogen to freeze the skin and trigger a natural healing response.
Our Cryotherapy treatments start at $195 per treatment.
Depending on your goals for Cryotherapy, you may need two or three treatments to address your skin concerns fully.
Cryotherapy cannot be used on individuals with conditions that can be exacerbated by cold exposure, such as Reynaud’s disease.
