What we do
Shave excisions use local anesthetic for optimal comfort. After the area is thoroughly numbed, our physicians utilize gentle strokes of a surgical blade to skillfully shave down the mole. Following light compression, a dressing may be applied and simple aftercare instructions reviewed. The treated spot will heal within 10 days to 2 weeks and may appear flat and brown or temporarily pink. Depending on the mole, regrowth may occur over months or years. Repeat shave excisions are possible. If lingering pigmentation is bothersome, alexandrite laser may be indicated to help reduce excess pigmentation or darkening.
