Laser tattoo removal offers a way to turn permanent ink into a distant memory. At our Vancouver clinic, we can target your ink, colour by colour, and disperse pigment particles using a specific wavelength of energy. Over the following weeks, the body naturally clears out this pigmentation. Tattoo ink can be reduced over several treatments, with most tattoos eventually fading completely.
Laser tattoo removal is performed with medical-grade laser equipment under the direction of a qualified physician for optimal safety and efficacy. This method is not broadband light (BBL) or intense pulsed light (IPL) tattoo removal; our medical-grade lasers emit unique wavelengths of energy for safe tattoo removal, with each wavelength targeting a different colour of tattoo ink. This helps the tattoo vanish over time.
Our experienced physicians will assess your skin and tattoos, thus creating a treatment plan to address your unique goals.
We’ll add photos to your patient file to reference the progress of your treatment and its efficacy over time.
Before we begin your session, we dedicate time to answering any questions you may have and reviewing the consent forms with you.
Each treatment starts with an initial numbing of the area. Then, our physicians will target the tattoo pigment in your skin using a medical-grade laser.
Starting at $350 per treatment.
Depending on your needs, we may recommend three to eight treatments spaced out over six- to eight-week intervals. The physicians at our Vancouver clinic will determine the appropriate number of sessions for laser tattoo removal after your initial consultation.

The treatment itself ranges from 5 minutes to 30 minutes depending on the size of the treatment area. At Project Skin MD we offer topical numbing cream 60 minutes prior to treatment, and inject local anaesthetic to increase your comfort during treatment. If time is an issue for you, we can skip the topical cream and only use local anaesthetic, please let us know at time of booking.
The local anaesthetic injection feels similar to a bee sting, and patients by experience a stinging sensation briefly as the anaesthetic begins to take effect. After the area is sufficiently numb, you may notice a slight heat or snapping sensation during treatment. Following your treatment, as the anaesthetic wears off you may feel tenderness and heat in the treated area. Cold compresses can help reduce any discomfort.
Direct sun exposure and use of self-tanners are important to avoid 2-4 weeks prior to treatment.
Yes. However, it is not recommended to exercise the same day as your treatment. Saunas, hot tubs, hot yoga and sun exposure are not recommended in the following 7 days.
Laser tattoo removal may cause a darkening or loss of pigmentation in the treated area. This should self-correct with time, however it can be permanent. Blistering, scarring, pain and infection are all possibilities with any laser treatment.
After approximately 2 weeks the treatment area should have healed, making it possible to see the effect the treatment had on the tattoo ink. Results are permanent, however it may take several treatments to remove the tattoo, and in some cases the ink may not clear entirely.
