How does Thermage work to firm around the eye area?
A Thermage eye treatment uses radiofrequency energy to heat the deeper, collagen-rich layers of the skin. The applied heat, in turn, causes existing collagen to contract and triggers new collagen to form. As a result, the delicate skin around the eye area tightens with results that continue to improve as new collagen is produced. This treatment provides the best non-invasive option for those looking for the closest outcome possible to a blepharoplasty treatment, without surgery.
How does the new Super Eye treatment differ from a standard Thermage Eye treatment?
A standard Thermage Eye treatment delivers 225 pulses of energy around each eye, followed by an additional 100 pulses of energy around each brow to increase the lifting action. The new Thermage Super Eye protocol delivers 450 pulses of energy around each eye, followed by an additional 100 pulses around each brow. The double-dose of energy provided around each eye in this new treatment creates a more dramatic effect, further firming the skin and reducing fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating an increase in new collagen that is formed in comparison with a standard treatment.
How many Super Eye treatments are typically recommended?
As with our standard Thermage Eye treatments, only a single session is required to achieve the skin-tightening results that will continue to improve over time.
When will I see results, and how long will they last?
It typically takes 3-6 months to see the full effect of a Thermage treatment. Whereas we recommend repeating a standard Thermage Eye treatment annually to continue to support new collagen production that naturally declines as we age, with the introduction of this new advanced protocol, a treatment every 3-5 years would ensure long lasting results.
What should I expect in terms of treatment experience and recovery?
Eye shields will be inserted prior to treatment to protect your eyes from the heat, and the treatment will take about one hour on each eye. You may return to your regular activities immediately following treatment, with minimal aftercare above and beyond maintaining a proper skincare regimen and sun protection.
