NEW at PS: PicoWay®

February 12, 2018

Doctor's Orders

The time has finally come to introduce you to the newest member of the PS lineup of treatments: PicoWay®. Don’t let its cutie pie name fool you – PicoWay® is on its way to becoming a laser legend! Boasting three wavelengths and ultra-short pulses, this revolutionary technology allows us to treat a broader range of skin types in fewer treatments and with greater comfort.

How does PicoWay® work?

Brought to you by Syneron Candela, PicoWay uses ultra-short, picosecond (trillionths of a second) pulses of energy to target a broad range of skin concerns, while leaving surrounding skin untouched. Because it emits less heat than traditional lasers, PicoWay provides a more comfortable treatment with fast results and virtually no downtime; after treatment, patients may experience temporary discolouration or reddening of the skin surrounding the treatment site.

What can PicoWay® treat?

What can’t this baby treat? This advanced laser solution is indicated for the treatment of:

Pigmentation.

PicoWay comfortably treats a wide range of pigmented lesions including freckles, age spots, Nevus of Ota, Café-Au-Lait and more. Targeted pulses of energy break up the pigment into smaller particles that are more easilyeliminated by the body’s natural processes. Over a few days, the targeted lesions will darken and slough away. Adopting a pigment-regulating daily skincare routine that includes broad-spectrum sunscreen will be highly recommended to prevent subsequent spots.

Melasma.

If you struggle with hard-to-treat melasma, you know this pesky condition cannot be prevented. PicoWay Resolve is one of the fastest and most effective melasma treatments available, often boasting results in just a few treatments.

Fine lines and wrinkles.

A celeb-fave, PicoWay Resolve has quickly become a go-to treatment for correcting fine lines and wrinkles, and improving skin’s texture and tone. The precise heat of the laser stimulates collagen production without damaging surrounding tissues. With virtually no downtime, it’s also more comfortable than more ablative lasers.

Acne scars.

PicoWay Resolve works to reduce acne scars by breaking down scar tissue, and simultaneously stimulating new, healthy tissue to form in its place. Because it has three unique wavelengths, the treatment is adjustable for different skin types and different types of acne scars (both shallow and deep).

Tattoos.

Nearly 1 in 7 people with tattoos regret their ink. PicoWay is a premier alternative to traditional laser tattoo removal. Because the system delivers ultra-fast pulses (ordinary lasers work in nanoseconds, PicoWay works one thousand times faster – in picoseconds), surrounding tissue is unaffected and the treatment is more comfortable. PicoWay also treats the broadest range of tattoo colours (traditional systems have trouble attacking red, blue, and green pigments) and skin types.

Prices for PicoWay treatments at Project Skin MD start at $295 (for up to 2 pigmented lesions).
