Our 2019 skincare resolutions

Happy 2019, beautiful!

If you’re anything like us, the start of a new year means one thing: resolutions! January 1st marks the beginning of goal-setting season, a time to reflect on what we hope the new year brings. One thing we know for sure? We want 2019 to bring us (and our patients) healthy, glowing skin.

Sounds like a lofty resolution, right? Where do you start? To help you find some inspiration, we asked our skin-savvy staff members to share the skincare resolutions they’re making this year.

Jessica Berto, Medical Aesthetician & Aesthetic Trainer.

“My New Year’s resolution is to focus on beautiful, alluring, luscious lips! Lips don’t contain oil glands (hence why they dry out), so we want to make sure we take care of them properly. My dos and don’ts: do apply a gentle sugar scrub with your finger appropriately twice per week, do apply an SPF on them, do use a rich moisturizer at night for them. Do not apply any balms with fragrance or allergens. Lastly, do not lick your lips! These tips will help your lips stay sultry for 2019.”

Gwen De La Costa, Medical Aesthetician.

“My skincare resolution for 2019 is to make sure I wipe down my face and change out of my workout gear right after a workout. I’ve started working out at a studio that doesn’t have a shower and found it hard to wash my face right away. I have found that bringing a good clarifying wipe to wipe down sweat and oils has really helped with my skin and preventing blemishes. Also, changing out of my sweaty workout gear will minimize any bacne!!! Then hop into the shower right away once I get home!”

Stephanie Hewitt, Lead Clinician.

“My 2019 focus is anti-aging. I know my future self will be thankful for any preventative measures I take now, which is why I’m using SkinCeuticals Metacell Renewal B3 every day. It’s proven to improve the appearance of early signs of aging – which is exactly what I’m looking for!”

Roxanne Hallgren, Cosmetic Sclerotherapy Nurse.

“I’m sure I’m not the only one, but my resolution centers around sun protection. I’m pretty diligent in ensuring I’m wearing and re-applying sunscreen, but we could all do better, and this year I will! My favourite product? SkinCeuticals Physical Fusion SPF 50. I love it because it’s tinted and makes my skin look so good!”

Karen Riley, Clinical Assistant.

“This year I’m upgrading my make-up. Instead of my regular foundation, I’m switching to Colorescience Tint du Soleil SPF 30 Whipped Foundation. It has UV protection, is infused with nutrients (so it’s actually good for my skin), and looks and feels so natural. I don’t know why I didn’t make the switch sooner!”

Leticia Spinelli, Clinical Assistant.

“In 2019, I will wear sunscreen every.single.day, rain or shine, because I know it’s SO important. An easy way to make sure I achieve my goal? Sunforgettable brush-on sunscreen SPF 50. This on-the-go brush almost makes it too easy!”

Dr. Monica Li, Dermatologist.

“I’m making the switch to SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic for the winter months. This is my go-to cold weather antioxidant serum, because on top of 15% pure vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) for environmental protection, it also contains 1% vitamin E (alpha tocopherol) to keep my skin hydrated!”

Janice Coplin, Laser Technician.

“Say it with me: in 2019 I will not neglect my eyes! I vow to protect the delicate area around my eyes with Colorescience Total Eye 3-in-1 Renewal Therapy SPF 35. Don’t worry, I won’t forget about the rest of my face! I’m also adding Colorescience Even Up Clinical Pigment Perfector SPF 50 to my routine for extra protection!”

Christine Palylyk, Laser Technician & Cosmetic Tattoo Artist.

“In 2019 I want to tackle the redness that’s been plaguing my sensitive skin. How, you ask? With Colorescience All Calm Clinical Redness Corrector SPF 50, which neutralizes redness and helps soothe and calm sensitive skin. I also recently discovered Colorescience’s Gel Eyeliner, so this year I’ll continue to spread the word about how awesome this stuff is!”

Krizel Singson, Skincare Advisor.

“Two words: hyaluronic acid. There’s just nothing like it to keep your skin hydrated and plump. So, this year I want to incorporate SkinCeuticals Hyaluronic Acid (H.A.) Intensifier into my daily routine. Sun protection is also an ongoing resolution of mine, so I’ll continue to carry my Colorescience Sunforgettable brush-on sunscreen SPF 50 everywhere I go!”
