Project Skin MD Christine Palylyk

Christine is the first to say that her skin feels looks and feels better now at age 46 than it did at age 29.

How did she do it? We got all the details for you here:

Teens & 20s

Christine started daily sunscreen application at age 15. In her 20s, she began limiting her time spent in the direct sun as well as introduced antioxidants, exfoliants and retinoids into her skincare routine.

Why it works: Wearing sunscreen every day is the simplest way to prevent sun damage and premature skin aging caused by UVA/UVB rays. By introducing antioxidants, exfoliants and retinoids, Christine protected her skin from other environmental aggressors, increased cell turnover for a more radiant complexion and increased collagen production to reduce and slow the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.

In her 30s, Christine began to enhance her skin care with aesthetic treatments. This included injection with dermal fillers and neuromodulators 2-3 times per year. She also introduced IPL Photorejuvenation laser treatments into her routine 2 times per year.

Why it works: Starting treatment with neuromodulators at an early age allowed Christine to train her muscles to relax and avoid the formation of deep lines and wrinkles. Injection with dermal fillers helped restore volume loss as natural Hyaluronic Acid (HA) production decreased in her skin. She complimented her injectable treatments with IPL, which reduced brown spots, sun damage, enhanced collagen production and helped improve her overall skin tone and texture.

Building on her solid skin care practices, Christine introduced a variety of other aesthetic treatments into her self-care in her 40s. She began to mix-and-match Microneedling treatments, Clear + Brilliant® treatments, Fraxel® re:store DUAL and Excel V™ laser treatments once or twice a year in addition to continuing with injectable and IPL treatments bi-anually.

Why it works: Through the creation of micro-punctures in the skin, Microneedling promotes new collagen formation leading to improvements in skin texture, fine lines, wrinkles, scars and stretch marks. Laser treatments like Clear + Brilliant® and Fraxel® re:store DUAL helped correct any pigmentation, pre-cancerous sun damage (actinic keratoses), scars or stretch marks and Excel V™ treatments addressed facial veins and vessels that developed for Christine in her 40s. These lasers also helped to further boost endogenous collagen production within the skin.
